And So It Begins

How many times have I tried to speak my mind online, only to walk away after a few well-meaning attempts? The struggle is real, and as a woman who has always striven for perfection, the struggle feels eternal.

I’m trying things a little differently this time. I am speaking from my heart and moving past the limiting thoughts that keep me from walking the talk, doing the thing: writing!

I know it won’t be perfect, and maybe this time I’ll be OK with that. If it’s a poem, I’ll let it be. If it’s a page ripped out of my journal, then ase. If it’s a playlist I curated, a photo I shot, a fangirl moment for whichever black woman is inspiring me, then it is what it is. From now on, it’s progress over perfection.

From me to you: a bouquet of flowers I bought at Trader Joe’s last week.
