You might as well answer the door, my child, the truth is furiously knocking.

I’m Fola Onifade and words are my thing.

I’m a staff writer for Democracy in Color, a nonprofit media organization at the intersection of race and politics. I research and script the episodes for the Democracy in Color podcast, and I write and curate the weekly newsletter.

In my creative storytelling, I use the page, the stage, and the screen to explore and celebrate the realities of Black and African diaspora women. I keep a personal blog—Diaspora Eyes—to work out the ever-knotty mental kinks.

My roots originate in Nigeria and sprawl across the Atlantic from New Jersey to Philadelphia and Charlotte, North Carolina.

I love reading, walking nature trails, strolling through art museums, practicing yoga, and devouring Tate’s Bake Shop cookies.

I’m taking my late 20s one existential crisis at a time.
